Plastic taste in refrigerator filtered water dispenser and ice R Contact options for registered users posted on January 24, , 1: Both the water and ice have a plastic taste. I have replaced the filter running at least gallons out of the dispenser after changing it at least 3 times in the past 8 months. It seems to taste fine for a few hours after changing the filter, then the plastic taste is back. My faucet water does not have this taste, so I know it has something to do with the refrigerator. I called Sears and they sent a technician who replaced 4 parts and said if that didn’t fix the problem, there really was nothing else he could replace that could be causing the problem. After he replaced the parts and we again ran a couple gallons of water, it tasted fine.
So, the original regfrigerator GE model that came with the house my fiancee and I recently purchased is on the fritz a little, so we’re going to replace it. It was installed in , so I think it lived its life, and with broken drawers inside and other cosmetic issues along with the other stuff that’s happening with it, a replacement is the way we’re going to go. It’s a basic refrigerator; freezer on top, fridge on the bottom, and both doors open the same way with the hinges on the far right.
A basic, simple fridge that worked well for what appears to be many years.

I unplugged the refrigerator and then allowed the thaw to start. To minimize the water going into the refrigerator, I plugged the holes with a paper towel. I had a microwavable heat pack that allowed me to avoid the massive amounts of water that looked as if would be needed. The ice sheets lifted up nicely after 10 minutes of so. I carefully used a hairdryer on warm setting to clear near the drain hole. The drain hole was plugged well within it so I then resorted to hot water.
Looks as it will be done in a little while thus I type this now. If all goes well, I will not post again. Last edited by kdrew; February 19th, at

My page on installing a Borg-Warner T5 in a 1st generation Z. Nissan called the ‘ trans a “wide ratio” while the ‘ was called a “close ratio” 5-speed. It also has a much taller 5th for cruising. According to a friend who rebuilds transmissions the early 5-speed is a 4-speed with 5th and reverse sharing the same fork. He said it’s more common for people to “blow” 5th gear on the earlier style as the fork is weaker.
