RV and Campgrounds When we all camped in the ’s and ’s campgrounds always offered a nice picnic table and fire ring [weather permitting] with the gift of some space and privacy. That’s what Grand Canyon Caverns RV park and campgrounds offers to today’s outdoor enthusiasts.

It is located near the business district and not far from the Rim Trail. It is set amidst Pinon Pine trees with a measure of shade and somewhat shielded from the busy roads offering seclusion. It is open all year and takes reservations. RVs and trailers are limited to 30 feet maximum. The natural environment is similar to Mather Campground. The RV camping ground permits RVs and trailers up to 50 feet long and provides full hookups, cable television, 30 and 50 amp electrical service, water, and dump station.

Always first come, first serve. Reservations are not accepted. It is only open from Mid-May to Mid-October. Trailers and RVs are restricted to a maximum length of 30 feet. There are no hook ups or shower facilities. It offers a variety of hookup options and a laundry and shower facilities. Both RV and tent camping is permitted.

You will have a generator for elec, propane for heat, hot water and to run your refrigerator, a large tank for fresh water and large tanks for grey and black water sinks and sewage. If you have never used an RV the RV company should do a walk through with you and maybe a video showing you how to do everything. The campground will have a place to fill your fresh water tanks and to dump your sewage.

TV reception of five Phoenix area network channels, via a county supported translator, is very good with RV antennas. The county has upgraded the translators and we now get our channels in High Definition! A couple Nevada and Utah channels can be viewed as well. We ask that no one uses the internet to stream any movies and such. That is Netflix, Hulu, etc. In addition to the RV sites we have rental cabins.

Of course, to the north is Grand Canyon National Park, but you’ll also find smaller less visited national and state parks that reflect the culture and heritage of northern Arizona.

Taking an RV trip calls for advanced planning to guarantee a successful journey. Plan your RV trip at least six months ahead of time to ensure campground availability. Reservations for the campgrounds are accepted this far in advance, but you may need to plan some of the other activities well before this time. The famous mule rides to the bottom of the Grand Canyon are typically booked 13 months ahead of time, and some of the rafting excursions commercial or non-commercial are reserved one or two years ahead.

Trailer Village offers pull-through paved sites with full hookups for RVs up to 50 feet in length. Trailer Village is conveniently located near the Canyon Village Market Place and Camper Services, and is just a half a mile from the canyon rim. Each site features a picnic table, barbecue grill, 30 and 50 amp electrical service, cable TV and water and sewage hook-ups. Camper Services is nearby, offering coin-operated showers, laundry facilities, dump station, potable water, vending machines and telephones.

Trailer Village is open year round. Mather Campground has over sites, is open year-round and operated by the National Park Service.
